Hi Giderans,

We have made some small but nifty changes to our forum, which runs Vanilla (http://www.vanillaforums.org). Here's a list of these additions and changes:

Instead of using plain old text edit screen, our forum now benefits from TinyMCE, so you can use rich text in your questions and answers.
On the right hand side you'll see top posters till now.
Vanilla Forums has been upgraded from 0.17 to 0.18 which looks much nicer around.

Our web page now includes a mobile friendly theme if you open it in your mobile phone also.

PS: If you haven't done so, please don't be shy and say "hi" in our "Introduce Yourself" category.. Also do not forget to update your attractive avatar! :)

The updated "Vanilla Forum" is nice. Really like the TinyMCE.
When adding code to our post, do we still have to add pre lang="lua" or
Is there a icon for code like images or links?

Ok, if you want to use the Lua coloring feature, you need to switch to source view, by clicking on the very last icon on the tray. It's the rightmost icon in the lower line of tray.

A bit cumbersome it may look, let's see how it goes. If people do not like it or it's not evident at first sight, we can switch back.

I've removed wysiwyg feature. Reasons:

1. Quoting is very hard, if not possible
2. Syntax highlighting is not intuitive.

Remove the whitespace ;)

Thanks, reading your posts above, I thought that the pre statements don't work.

So what are the tags supported in this forum now? A concise list is all that's needed.

You can define your own tags.

What he ment is that we would like to see a list of supported tags that we have to use to format our posts.

If you click on Discussions at the top of this page, then you will see the most used tags half way down the page on the right, so that gives an idea of what we should be using. (To be honest, I haven't considered tags when creating threads, so that is one thing that should probably be encouraged.)

One problem is that ugg and tiffany and sale are really popular. Is it possible when cleaning up spam posts to delete the tags too?

@Caroline, I think @chipster123 means formatting tags (like < a > < pre > etc.) rather than keyword tags.

Sorry about the confusion. Mike understood. I meant formatting tags like pre. The subject tags never entered my mind until the response flow. Funny how people see things differently.

@chipster123 basically all basic HTML tags are supported like a, p, br, b, i, strong, h etc, plus it understands vimeo and youtube links so you can directly paste your video URL here and it previews online.

@OZApps when I thought of working for Gideros, I knew I would work on plugins, I just did not know it would be forum plugins :)
I've enabled one to show whos online, let's see how it works ;)
